Spawn 1997
I just remembered this childhood story of mine earlier when i thought of this old movie called Spawn. It was in 1997 and i was 12. Bhavani was 9 i think. I was staying at my aunt's house practically everyday...i can't remember exactly why, guess it was the holidays. That year was the year Spawn was released. So to tie in with the movie, Coca - Cola had this promotion where you buy 2 bottles of coke and get a free packet of Spawn Cards.
You know those crappy cards with the characters picture and they have weird numbers to signify powers and shit. I was SOOOO caught up and amazed by them. But i was 12. I din exactly have the CAPITAL to go around buying 2 cokes everyday. So...i hatched a marvellous plan. It of coz involved bhavani being the scapegoat. My aunt would come home at around 6 and leave her purse lying around in her room. At exactly 6.10 she would then go for a shower for about 10 to 15mins. So...i would make bhavani go into the room at 6.12 everyday and STEAL 2 dollars from her mum's wallet. WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
So every afternoon, both of us would lie that we were going to go play and would go to the esso downstairs and buy 2 cokes. This went on for like a mth. Imagine two kids everyday drinking coke for a mth. No wonder i'm addicted la dammit. Anyway i remember what happd after collecting 99 cards and i only had ONE card left.
IT was the last day of the promo.
As usual i was panicking la. So this time i told bhavani to steal 10 dollars so we could buy TEN cokes. So very dutifully the poor girl went to take the money at like 6.11...HOWEVER my aunt who was in the toilet had forgotten to take her towel out and she suddenly came out and saw bhavani taking the wallet! Omg damn tragic right. The funny thing is, Bhavani lied that she was merely curious about her mum's wallet. Haha thank god she was so convincing tt my aunt bought it. Can you imagine the beating we would have recieved if our 1mth long plot was unravelled?
